Core Values
ABLE ARC Ministries' Values are our name; Addicted Believers Living Extraordinary in Alternative Recovery Communities.
An examination of those words reveals much of our Values.
ABLE
We are Addicted Believers Living Extraordinarily. Whats does that mean? When we think of Addicted people, we often picture stereotypical examples like a homeless person smoking crack cocaine or an old man drinking on a park bench. But at ABLE ARC, we define addiction more openly. Addiction, to us, means engaging in behaviors that are beyond our control, compulsive and destructive causing us immense suffering. Everyone experiences trauma in life, whether acknowledged or ignored, which damages our emotional and spiritual well-being. Seeking relief, we develop behaviors that both compel and harm us – these are our addictions. At ABLE ARC, we aim to identify and address these addictive behaviors in all of us. To heal, we must first acknowledge and confront our defects. True healing comes through knowing ourselves and the True God. Believing in God is the path to healing. In today's world, a prevailing issue is the self-proclaimed absence of belief. The very idea of God often faces hostility, as our culture increasingly embraces secularism while adopting various forms of loose spirituality. Regrettably, the significance of God as the Father and Creator has been overshadowed by society's haze. ABLE ARC firmly believes that every individual possesses faith and beliefs, even if they may struggle to acknowledge them explicitly. Such convictions manifest in different forms, whether it's having faith in the authenticity of purchased drugs or believing in the possibility of escaping consequences for the latest act of infidelity. At times, we find ourselves idolizing money, power, or status, placing our hope and trust in these abstract concepts. Even the simple act of drawing breath can be seen as an act of faith. Faith, in its essence, is "believing in without seeing proof of." Those trapped in the clutches of active addiction often exhibit an overwhelming amount of faith, which we seek to redirect toward more positive avenues. ABLE ARC serves as a guiding light, leading its members to acknowledge their misplaced faith and realign it to its rightful orientation, which is directed toward God. We wholeheartedly acknowledge YHWH as God, as revealed through the Scriptures and fulfilled in the life of His Son, Jesus. One of the core goals of ABLE ARC is to assist our members in understanding the truth about God, His Son Jesus, and the indwelling Holy Spirit that empowers and enables each one of us to function on a day-to-day basis. Once we have placed our faith in the True God, we are truly able to Live. Many of us have, at some point, traded a life of purpose for mere existence. This realization may be more apparent to some than others. Our lives became consumed by the pursuit, acquisition, and use of various substances, draining away the vibrancy and joy that once colored our days. We settled for mere existence, forsaking the richness of life itself. The specific defects or struggles we face are inconsequential. Whether we are trapped in the relentless pursuit of career advancement, entangled in toxic relationships with food or partners, or trapped in the grip of substance abuse, addiction, and sin relentlessly consume our time and energy. Day by day, our existence lacks true joy and genuine happiness. Similar to Job, we despised our lives and would have rejected an eternity of mere existence if given the choice. However, as we embark on the Path of Recovery alongside God, we discover the power to nurture and cultivate those delightful aspects of life that transform mere existence into Living. Wholeheartedly embracing our True Selves and the True God paves the way for a level of Living we had never experienced before. By speaking Truth, offering Encouragement, extending Compassion, and providing Help to one another, we uplift and empower each other. In doing so, we rekindle the flame of Living within us! As we transition from mere existence to Living, we transcend the boundaries of the ordinary and step into the realm of the Extraordinary. When it comes to active addiction, there is rarely anything mundane or ordinary about the experience. The relentless cycle of destructive behaviors, whether it be the extreme patterns of bingeing and purging in eating disorders, the entrapment in co-dependency and explosive anger, or the overwhelming anxiety caused by gambling debts, all exemplify the extraordinary nature of addiction. ABLE ARC firmly believes that every individual on the Path of Recovery has the opportunity to break free from the chains that addiction has placed upon them. Moreover, we believe that walking hand-in-hand with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on this path transcends the realm of the ordinary. It is through the arduous journey along this path, guided by the light of Christ, and coupled with the consequences we face, that we discover a profound sense of peace and security, liberated from the pain and anguish of our former way of life. Our members wholeheartedly embrace an Alternative and Communal approach to living, founded on the teachings of Jesus Christ. We recognize the profound spiritual dimension of our existence and the transformative power that a supportive community, united by faith, can have on each individual. By awakening to our true selves and embracing the greater reality of our Divine Creator, God, through the love and salvation offered by Jesus Christ, ABLE ARC empowers its members to undergo personal growth and transformation, enabling them to lead Extraordinary lives in Christ. In our Community, there are no graduations or completion of programs. Instead, our members strive for continual improvement, aiming to create a better tomorrow than yesterday, guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ. Our lives are not measured against the achievements of the world; rather, they are personal challenges against our past accomplishments, with Jesus as our strength and guiding light.
ARC
We are a Community that stands as a sacred gathering of souls seeking freedom from the chains of addiction embarking on a transformative journey of healing, renewal, and restoration together. Rooted in our unwavering faith in God's redemptive power, we are guided by the divine teachings of Jesus Christ and the ever-present wisdom of the Holy Scriptures. Within our Community, we wholeheartedly embrace the belief that addiction encompasses more than substance abuse—it extends to any behavior that binds us, robs us of joy, and separates us from God's divine purpose for our lives. We acknowledge that true recovery goes beyond the cessation of harmful practices; it involves a profound spiritual awakening, a surrendering of our will to the loving embrace of a higher power. For these foundational reasons, we wholeheartedly reject secular integrational methods and turn away from the addiction treatment industries as they exist in our world today. Within our Community, we strive to align our lives with the teachings of Jesus Christ, who walked the earth as the ultimate example of love, compassion, and redemption. As we surrender our will to God's divine plan, we discover a newfound sense of purpose and meaning. We draw strength from the Holy Spirit, who dwells within us, guiding our steps and providing the courage to confront our past, embrace the present, and step into a future filled with hope. In the light of God's truth, we seek to recover the knowledge of our inherent worth and dignity. We bear witness to the miraculous power of God's healing touch, as lives are transformed, relationships are restored, and purpose is rediscovered. Our ARCs are not merely weekly gatherings; it is a sacred Community on pilgrimage, a journey of the soul towards wholeness and abundant life in Christ. As we walk hand in hand, supporting one another through the valleys and mountaintops of recovery, we bear witness to the miraculous works of God's grace in our lives. With one hand held by Christ, we extend our hands to one another as living witnesses to the power of the Path. In the shelter of our ARC, we are empowered to recover our true identity as beloved children of God. We shed the shackles of addiction and embrace a life of purpose, service, and spiritual fulfillment. Together, we stand as living testimonies to the redeeming power of God's love, proclaiming His glory to a world in need of hope and healing. With hearts aflame and spirits ignited by the fire of faith, we journey forward, knowing that in God's embrace, we are made whole. May our lives be a testament to His grace, as we continue to walk the Path of Recovery, guided by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
